王楠1978年出生于辽宁抚顺，7岁便开始打球，1993年就入选了国家队，1994年，她参加了瑞典女子乒乓球公开赛并夺得了自己的首座女单冠军，而她那时才16岁，正是此役她被国人关注。之后的王楠事业开始步步高升，1995年天朝公开赛上卫冕女单冠军，1999、2000、2001年连续三年位列世界单打第一！2000年的悉尼奥运会上她夺得自己生涯第一个奥运冠军，在她一生的三次奥运比赛上她共夺得4枚金牌。' D' Y' u& i$ f& k9 {
