·《天降美食》改编自材自夫妻档作家朱迪·巴雷特和朗·巴雷特在1982年出版的同名儿童小说。但是这部续集却并不是改编自这两位小说家写的续集《匹兹堡酱菜》（Pickles to Pittsburgh），而是编剧的原创故事。1 [- U$ C% D9 k9 O: H2 {. K

·影片中一共出现了39种各种各样的食物。这39种食物没有一样是传统的、能在饭店菜单上找到的东西。它们都是两种或者是数种食物的混合物。
