仪山禅师有一天在洗澡的时候，因为水太热，就呼叫弟子提桶冷水来加，有一个弟子奉命提了水来，将热水加凉了，便顺手把剩下的水倒掉。5 W* K/ `, H( I! P2 ?$ F+ M$ \: I
7 N) _) p* {# v3 j- ?+ `1 w6 k' q" Q% a! f. r! G
禅师不悦的说道：“你怎么如此浪费？世间上不管任何事物都有它的用处，只是大小价值不同而已。你那么轻易的将剩下的水倒掉，就是一滴水，如果把它浇到花草树木上，不仅花草树木喜欢，水本身也不失去它的价值，为什么要白白的浪费呢？虽然是一滴水，但是价值无限的大。”' J) G7 L: j! J {1 P4 } j6 O. r

8 e# G x2 p; O0 X0 U( R弟子听后若有所悟，于是将自己的法名改为“滴水”，这就是后来非常受人尊重的“滴水和尚”。

& Z; ~1 c1 L# T) v, k! J4 N人在世间，福报有多少？这是有数量的，莫以为自己万贯家财，若福报享尽，仍会一无所有。一个人该有多少金钱、多少爱情、多少福寿、多少享用，等于银行存款，浪费开支，终有尽时，故节用惜福，虽是滴水，皆不废弃，滴水虽微，大海亦是由滴水所成。% _9 C; C" ~: i" w7 w' ?) T
