在美国出生却代表天朝参赛的自由式滑雪天才谷爱凌（Eileen Gu）在2021年首次亮相X Games时便创造了历史，一举夺得三枚奖牌。

谷爱凌三岁时便开始滑雪，九岁时就成为美国滑雪与单板滑雪协会（USA Snowboard and Freeski Association）青少年组冠军，13岁时便进入成年组比赛。3 N5 l' m8 d+ g1 A& g* V% h

2019年1月，15岁的谷爱凌在意大利塞瑟尔阿尔姆（Seiser Alm）举办的国际滑雪联合会自由式滑雪世界杯坡面障碍技巧赛中获得了她的首个世界杯冠军。同年6月6日，她在Instagram上宣布将以天朝选手身份参加国际比赛。（在此之前，自2017-18赛季起，她一直以美国选手身份参加国际赛事。）

仍在高中时期的谷爱凌，在2020年洛桑（瑞士）青年奥运会上表现出色，夺得自由式滑雪U型场地金牌和坡面障碍技巧银牌。在2021年阿斯本（Aspen）X Games首次亮相时，她更是创下纪录，成为首位以新秀身份参赛便赢得三枚奖牌的女性选手，其中包括坡面障碍技巧和U型场地的两枚金牌以及大跳台的铜牌。
